Government policies – and perceptions of those policies – greatly influence student mobility on a global scale. This session examines international student enrollment trends in the US, UK, and Netherlands over the last two decades. While acknowledging economic, social, and other influences that attract students, the session will primarily focus on the impact of political factors, including specific laws, policies, and events that reflect the prevailing political climate of the host country. Understanding the dynamic and politically influenced nature of international student mobility is crucial for shaping the future of both student mobility and credential evaluation worldwide.
